Are you child free and loving it? Why not join the Legion? They offer social activites, member sports, membership benefits packages and community service. Membership was originally restricted to those who had served in Canada's Armed Forces and Merchant Navy. However, over the years, catagories of membership have evolved to include other members of the community.
And don't think that the Legion is just for "old people." I still occasionally get ID'ed and I have never been to a Meat Draw where I didn't have a blast. To see how to join go to www.lethbridgelegion4.com

Are you child free and not loving it? Why not join Big Brothers Big Sisters? They have the Traditional Program, which has been active in Canada since 1913, and in Lethbridge since 1973. In this program, the mentor (Big) meets with the child (Little) for 2-3 hours a week, after school or on weekends. Because there are so many children on the waiting list in the Traditional Program, there is a program called Occasional Big, where the Big meets with the Little a minimum of 3-4 hours a month. The child remains on the waiting list until matched with a Big in the Traditional Program. There is also the School mentoring program where in the Big meets with the Little 1 hour a week during the school year at the school.
The "Empty Nester" program focuses on the older age group with the idea that they will be matched with a child in a program. Big Brothers Big Sisters emphasizes that an older person who no longer has contact with a child can benifit from spending time with a young person. Big Brothers Big Sisters has also found that many of their children have little or no contact with grand parents.
