May 5, 2010 - Taste of Downtown! Lucky I got my tickets early as this events sold out in two day. Now that I've experienced it I know why. It was a great opportunity to check out all the local eateries that I always intend to try but haven't and found some gems. Slice really does have the best pizza in town, Soho - you need to go try the french toast and the mango beverage, Esquires has some great white chocolate espresso. After that I was full.

January 23, 2010 - 3rd annual Robbie Burns night at the Blarney Stone. Celebration Scottish style with lots of bag pipes, highland dancing and Haggis. I tried the Haggis before knowing what it was, which is probably good, although I'm still not exaclty clear on what it is. I think before the night was over we had toasted everything from Scotland to Canada and may have even toasted to toasting!

January 7, 2010 - Banff Film Festival. Lethbridge hosts six nights of shows and you have to get your tickets quick. I've attended this event the last three years and it never disappoints. I loved watching the powder skiing and was inspired by the amazing things people are doing in this world, solo rowing trips across the ocean, 12 year olds racing horses in Mongolia and rock climbers overcoming unbelievable odds. I need to spend more time outdoors!

November 15, 2009 - There was lots of talk this week about BeerFest coming to Lethbridge, so I thought I'd venture out to try new things. It was an interesting event, a trade show of beer. Tasted a few, learned I may not be a fan of European beers, but I did enjoy the strawberry beer. I may have to visit the Wine Cavern to pick some up.

November 7, 2009 - We went and watched the Lethbridge College Women's Basketball team take on Briercrest. Needless to say, it was a blow out, with the Kodiaks winning 90-51. Of course, these girls are the defending Alberta Provincial champions who placed 3rd at Nationals last year. The atmosphere at the game was alright considering most of the crowd turned out at the end of the game to watch the Men's team play right after. Let's get out there are support these girls! You will not be sorry!


October 17, 2009 - Hopefully everyone was able to get out and enjoy the beautiful fall day. Its tragic all the leaves froze before they had a chance to change colours. We wandered around Henderson Lake and were jealous of all those golfing. If you are looking for something to do rememeber - One Click and you're out of the house.

October 9, 2009 - This afternoon we had lunch at Honkers Pub and Eatery and had a great chat with the owner Vicky Miller. And I have to say, this little gem has some of the best food I have had, and I have had pub food from across the globe.

The Indonesian "hand cut and marinated tender boneless pork" ribs are a must-have. Seriously, these are ribs like you've never had before. They also come in 9 other flavors. We also had the homemade fish and chips and they were just plain awesome. When I was in Wales, I lived up the street from the "#3 voted Best Fish and Chip Shop" in Britain. I can attest that Honker's were better!

September 26, 2009 - So, on Saturday afternoon we went and checked out the Lethbridge College Kodiak Mens Soccer team take on the Medicine Hat Rattlers. It was a beautiful day to take in some ACAC soccer and the crowd along with the Kodiak mascot were right into it. Airhorn and body paint included. The home teams lost 3-2, but made a harrowing comeback attempt in the 2nd half.

It was a great way to spend an afternoon and I must admit, every soccer field should have a spectator hill to watch the game from.
